Antique Victorian Hand Painted and Mother of Pearl Hand Fan Dated 1861

A gorgeous hand painted fan, from the mid 19th century, dated 1861, probably Italian.  The double 'chicken skin'  (a type of textured paper) leaf hand painted in gouache with an allegorical/classical scene. The back has an inscription in French, It translates to " For Mrs. Theresina Personelli, in grateful remembrance, Louis Guillaume" 1861.  The sticks are carved and pierced mother of pearl and the guardstick length is 10 3/4". The guards are backed with mother of pearl which shows through the piercing. In very good condition. There is one inner stick repair and one guardstick repair. Please view all photos carefully. Guaranteed to be as described.
