Original BMW 50 Jahre M hood emblem.
The BMW Motorsport logo,
with stepped semicircles in blue, navy blue and red, was first used in
1973 on the racing cars of BMW Motorsport GmbH, which was founded a year
earlier.
It was not until 1978, after the debut of
the BMW M1, that the three colored stripes slanted to the right and
supported by the letter M appeared, which to this day are a brand name
with particularly high recognition and identification power even outside
of motorsport.
