128gb SSD HD an SSD running Win 98 is amazingly fast (due to the small scale of OS & programs and files in Win 98) You will be jealous your modern PC cant be this fast--I shouldnt have to explain here but from at WIN 98 screen 3 sec boot (from clean install) normaly 5x faster than conventional in this case running Win98 -about 10x faster (due to programs and files being so small)
Or Win XP pro for full internet capability which 98 lacks ....... there is plenty of HD space here ( originally they came with 12 gb or mega 30gb later on)--512gb SSD available FOR XP OS **NEW 0 HRS***
---- Dont be fooled with a vintage hard drives 18+ yrs old a retro HD is very slow and ready to fail after 20+ yrs.... its lucky to still be working and when it does you will be left a old laptop. You will then have to install a new HD, Windows and all the drivers that make it work.

IF you are more interested in playing the very old games especially the DOS ones you might be better off choosing one of the earlier
models I have listed. Reason being some of the older games are sensitive to the higher CPU speeds

Newer window 98 games are well supported and the extra speed benefits later Windows 98 games. Some Older Dos games start to have problems with too much CPU speed. DOS sound is software issue instead of compatible Hardware......NOT IN ALL CASES .. its best to start in the closest time period............usually its about the right drivers which is a rare problem, as the Thinkpads are very well supported............as always
