This is such an amazing lot from one early great American vollyball player. It includes a small case that has so many papers from William (Bill) Alton. He according to the papers and magazine in the lot was very highly regarded as one of the better players in all of America and it looks like he was on the national team!! And here are 2 of his jerseys!! From the papers he was also in the war and the lot has his discharge papers and all kinds of stuff from the war and his early death in 1956. The magazine even has a picture of them giving his jacket to some hall of fame to remember him.

So it must be from maybe a pan American tournament. Maybe the one they got Gold at in 1955? It looks like the jersey is very much like the USA basketball teams from 1955 but I am not sure. All I am sure about is that this is so special!!
