This unit actually does what it says. It is very bright and it stays secure on any window. You can even get a DC converter where you can plug it into a wall for like six dollars. The only thing I don't like about this unit is that you have to use the remote control and do old-school key tapping to get all of the words in for custom messages. Otherwise, it is worth the money.

I'm not sure how long Uber and Lyft will last since these companies technically aren't profitable and that they are trying to attempt to do something about that in order to gain trust from their investors so that wany they can still continue. Then again, .com isn't that profitable either with their control over the internet shopping platform? Anyway, this LED sign has a decent amount of options provided from the controller to easily have options to change the text that is displayed and it also gives the advantage of making it easier to type the letters selected compared with the LED car signs that come with cheap remotes that only have 8 buttons on them. I mainly really like how much grip the suction cups provide to help keep everything in place without constantly falling while driving . I'm pretty sure you can use this for your taxi as well, but normally taxi's have signs on them already for you to easily notice them so this might just be some extra to add just for appearances.

my husband does Uber and i ordered this for hin has its pros and cons. over all vast majority positive. easy to read install. operation wise to change the message the remote has to be in front of the sign, and the instructions print could be a tad bigger. Also the remote is extremely cheaply made and the buttons are extremely small. great value good price. great investment if your on a budget. if you have the money invest in somthing a little more pricey. however great product and good value inwould by again

This is my 2nd unit. Drove away with remote on back bumper!! My favorite little device for getting my political message out there.This unit is best suited to get your message across while you are in line for coffee, a hamburger, slow traffic, stopped at light or parked where foot traffic will see it. It is easiest to program using a cigarette lighter adapter in your home, although, you can sit in your car and do it. Programing is like sending text messages on a "flip phone"Unit will self destruct in direct sunlight above about 70F. You cannot program or change messages while your driving, as you need to be looking at the screen, and the road! Works great on the back tinted window of my SUV. Just remember, people passing you or at a safe distance behind you CANNOT read this sign.

4 stars because its awesome but has its drawbacks.Awesome because it does what it is supposed to. easy to read, scrolling messages, etc. Takes a little learning to get the message input done, but if youve ever texted on a flip phone, its just like the T-9 keyboard.The Cons:the IR sensor is on the outside, so you have to enter and initiate messages from the outside. I took the steps from the top review of soldering in another IR sensor, and that works beautifully.The Red cover over the screen is flimsy red plastic, which apparently warps in heat. I havent experienced it yet, but you can probably remove the red film and not have any issues using the board.The keys on the remote are small, so chubby fingers beware.The board will replay the default 'banner' message whenever power is restored. My car's Cig outlet isnt 100% constant, theres a dip so the board restarts every 45 seconds, which can be annoying if you dont want a message playing constantly, however you can re-program the default banner message. A few 'spaces' (blanks) will work as a message, so now the 'default' just looks 'off'.Program any of the default 'preprogrammed' messages as the stored custom messages so they are easier to use. to use a 'pre-programmed message', you have to hit 4 buttons, which can be a hassle while driving. I set them as the programmable messages, which is just one button push to use them. just remember which one is which...all in all, i like it. Im a tinkerer by nature, so making those edits for me was easy, but for the average user, this might be a bit much. works great so far.

Overall, this is a very cool little sign. It works just as described and is very readable with good scroll speed. It can be improved quite a bit, however. First, as others have mentioned, the remote only works from outside the car (assuming it's on your back window) since the IR receiver is pointing out toward traffic. This is a big bummer if you want to change the message or turn it off while you're driving. However, if you're handy with a soldering iron, you can carefully attach an IR extender to the existing IR receiver. I got the Monoprice 5-Feet IR Extender Cable Receiver. It has 3 wires. The red goes to the "+" (power), the green goes to the "-" (ground), and the white goes to the "S" (signal). The wire fits nicely in the existing wire channel along side the Dc 12v wire. The new receiver now sits near the back seat and it works great! An extender would be a great addition to future models. Also on my wish list is to have this sign be wider. Even a few inches more would be much better as long words are a bit hard to read. Lastly, the sign would be much easier to use if it could be programmed with a smart phone instead of a silly remote (although I'm not sure that's possible). All in all though, pretty darn cool!
