Illustrators: Cover illustrators include: Henry Hutt, James Montgomery Flagg, John Cecil Clay, Valentine Sandberg, etc.

Format: Hardcover bound magazines.

Size: 28 cm.  (11")

Description:   A bound volume of Life magazine, including the issue for the 4th of July, then the issues from August through December, 1905.  Three July issues are not included #1185, 86, and 87.   From the time of its founding through 1936, Life was considered a general interest and light entertainment magazine, which is certainly reflected in the contents of this volume.  Includes many cartoons.  All of the covers are present, with about six in full colour. The front cover and internal artwork includes work by noteworthy illustrators of the day. Some of the rear covers are full page ads for different products; including cigars, shaving soap, cigarettes, beer, shredded wheat and so on.  There are many, many black and white ads.

Condition: Fairly good condition.  Bound in green, cloth-covered boards.   Split along gutter in preliminary page ads of the first issue has resulted in the upper board being a little loose.  Light wear to the edges and corners.  Lower board shows light soil.  Inside pages are clean and unmarked in general but there are a few light soil marks here and there.  Most of the pages have a soft fold mark down the center, likely from being placed in a mailbox.  They are more noticeable through touch than sight.  The edges have been trimmed in binding, with loss of parts of the headings in some issues.
