The GAZ-69 off-road vehicle was developed in the late 1940s. Serial production began in 1952 at the GAZ plants in the city of Gorky and later also at the UAZ plants in Ulyanovsk. Serial production lasted until 1972. The GAZ-69 was powered by a single R4 M-20 engine with 55 horsepower and a displacement of 2.1 liters. It also had a 3-speed manual transmission and four-wheel drive (4x4).The GAZ-69 off-road vehicle was created as the successor to the GAZ-67. In the basic version it could carry 8 people, including two in the front seats, or 500 kg of cargo. The original version had a two-door body, but in 1951 a four-door body (GAZ-69A) was developed. The GAZ-69 was characterized by very good off-road characteristics, high reliability and simple design. These elements made it the simple, light off-road vehicle of the Soviet Army and the Warsaw Pact countries. A self-propelled anti-tank rocket launcher called 2P26 was also developed on the GAZ-69 chassis. The all-terrain vehicle GAZ-69 It was replaced by the UAZ-469 in the 1970s. However, to this day (2017) it is still in use by the armies of countries such as North Korea.
