Squarish fukusa or ceremonial cloth or cover. On a background of cream-colored silk interwoven with gold thread is a takarabune, the treasure ship of the seven gods of good fortune, carrying their emblems (hammer, rice bales, coral branches, fan, key, hat of invisibility. jewels) applied in a combination of embroidery and brocade weave. 

 

The back of the fukusa is a solid bright red.

 

Tassels made of twisted gold threads were once sewn to the corners, only two remain

Can be used for a wedding or other felicitous occasion. Can be hung on the wall, or used as a table covering for festive occasions.

 

Very small light stain on front, several stains on back, two tassels missing, stitching is coming loose on one side, otherwise excellent condition

 

The red color is hard to reflect in a photo. It comes close to reality.
