This is a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted Anglo-Saxon-style lyre, made by me, in upstate New York. The instrument is patterned after several surviving Medieval instruments. I've crafted this one from hemlock fir and oak, with a solid sitka spruce soundboard. The finish is Danish oil. The bridge is padauk. The tailpiece is of oak with copper fittings.

The instrument has 7 strings: 6 are plain nylon and one is silver wound. The instrument sounds best tuned to A (low octave), C, D, E, F, G, A.

The instrument measures 26 inches long, by 8.5 inches wide, by 1.5 inches deep.

The instrument is fitted with threaded zither pins for easy tuning and comes with a brass tuning key.

This is a serious musical instrument (not just a display piece) with a sweet, harp-like quality. It can be plucked or strummed, played solo or with vocal accompaniment.
