Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a rare and seldom seen older general purpose microphone made by Electro Voice for a very short time during the 1940's. This microphone closely resembles the more common 630 model. It comes with the slightly newer 1950's era Atlas DS-10 stand shown.

Pic # 2 shows this very model in a 1940's Electro Voice catalog along with several others mic models of that era.

This 612 model mic came in it's unique golden brown paint scheme. I have only ever personally seen one other example of these 612 mics before. I believe they were only sold for a couple years as I have never seen them listed in any other E.V catalog except the one I have from 1946. I'm not sure why E.V stopped selling them but the front grill is quite different from the style of the 630 model.

The 70 + year old microphone has typical wear as you can see in pictures with paint loss, scratches and scuff marks but free of any dents, dings or fractures. The threads for the stand are perfect with zero stripping but there is a small piece of threading missing where the cable attaches too. The E.V label shows lite paint loss exposing the bras material beneath but still completely legible. Overall this piece is an easy 6 on a scale of 1 - 10.

The joint mechanism works fine with plenty of tension. The on / off switch works great as well. Just needs a replacement element to operate. This is a really unique mic and will be a great conversation piece anywhere it's displayed.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE...

The mic comes with the Atlas DS-10 model desk stand from the 1950's era and perfect for just about any older vintage microphone you have. The design, paint scheme shows that it's clearly an early generation DS-10 "Streamliner" desk stand made in Brooklyn, NY.

Total length is 7 inches long x 5 1/2 inches wide X 5 inches tall and makes a very stable platform with a low center of gravity. Perfect for the 612 model microphone.

The DS-10 was only sold by Atlas for about 10 years so you don't see too many around. This example is in good overall condition despite the wear. I'd rate it a true 5 + on a scale of 1 -10.

The stand shows several scuff marks, scratches and lite paint loss on the original painted aluminum base.
The center chrome strip actually detaches from the base once you unscrew the riser. This allows you to run a cable through the bottom of the stand giving the stand a cleaner look. The chrome accent piece shows just as much wear as the base. The riser also shows heavier wear.

The riser is painted the same color of the base. Again, you can screw any mic or mic clip onto this stand.

The stand has the 5 original plastic pads as well and they work excellent.
