This is a pre-production  alpha/beta OLPC XO-1.   Got it for software development years ago, but now I have no need for it, so hopefully it can find a new home.

It's the one laptop per child project - they were trying to make a super cheap computer for children back in ~2008.    You might want it for your child (although there are more capable machines available now!) or you might want it as a piece of computer history.

Fully working, boots up, even the battery stores some power.

Comes with a UK charger.   Minor marks on the case, and a dead line of pixels at one edge of the screen that doesn't impact use.   Never been disassembled (apparently if you do disassemble it, there are mods to dramatically extend the battery life by changing a resistor).

When I had this, I was particularly excited about the 802.11s mesh networking they pioneered - although sadly it never became mainstream :-(    I had dreams of a citywide mesh with internet everywhere replacing phones.

I also liked the transflective display - still IMO the best in it's class, and you can actually use it outdoors in bright sunlight no probs.   Part of the reason I've hung onto this for a decade was I was hoping to one day transplant the screen into a modern laptop - but alas, that never happened.   It can leave the screen on while the CPU is asleep, giving insane battery life - an idea later used by Android.

Finally, the forth based firmware is rather nice and capable.  Oh - and the audio jack that can be used as an oscilloscope...  And the fact it can stay connected to wifi when turned off...

All in all, this machine feels a bit like a delorean - so futuristic in ways, yet it's a different future to the one we live in now!
