With the G83-6744, Cherry is offering a smart card keyboard. When used with the correct software, this Smart card keyboard is ideal for all home banking applications with the HBCI smart card for German banks and savings banks, for payment via the Internet, e-commerce, digital signatures (compliant with SigG), public key infrastructure (digital signature on company level), data encryption, and regulation of access authorization (access control).

The keyboard is equipped with an integrated, multi-functional smart card reader. The G83-6744 distinguishes itself with its simple installation, compact construction, ergonomics, and user-friendliness. It is equally suited to office based or domestic PC environments.

The keyboard is EMC 2000-approved and also has Common Criteria EAL 3+ approval. With this keyboard design, great emphasis was placed on secure PIN entry. If the application in question supports the direct transmission of PINs to the smart card, the SmartBoard offers special security during the entry of PINs with its “secure PIN entry mode.” The entry of the PIN is not transmitted to the system, but rather transmitted from the keyboard number block directly to the smart card. With this direct PIN entry to the smart card, secret data does not reach the unprotected PC first, which means that unauthorized persons cannot access it.

The Cherry G83-6744 is equipped with security firmware and additional construction features like a specially-sealed housing.
