The Pentax K is the legendary first* SLR mechanical camera made by Pentax and a rare functional collectors piece.
The "K" also known as the "King" was hand assembled in Japan from 1958 in a limited run of only 20,000 worldwide before being replaced by the Pentax S2. 


During the 1950s the camera market had to be quick and constantly reinvent their products to stay relevant ( a bit like apple with their new phones every year ) 


However it was the Pentax K that set the standard for the next decade of Pentax camera design.
Even the famous Pentax K1000 built 20 years later shares allot of the same design features. 


*While the Pentax AP was really the first camera with an instant return mirror, it wasn't until the Pentax K was released and it’s inclusion of a bright pentaprism viewfinder
and use of automatic diaphragm did it get attention and make it the first true SLR camera.See press release "blackout" in images above for more info.

Overall Condition

Overall this camera is in good condition for its age. All features working as they should.

Appearance

Overall this camera is in good cosmetic condition for its age with the usual wear. Some rubbing and scratches to bottom plate, tarnishing of 

chrome on film rewind lever etc. 


Optical Quality

The viewfinder of this camera is clean and clear with minute amounts of dust.

The lens is clean with no signs of mold, hazing or scratches HOWEVER there is some dust present ( see pic of lens )

This is normal for most camera lenses lenses however it is worth mentioning. It does not affect the photos 

Functionality

This camera has been film tested (see test shots ) and at time of shooting all functions were working exactly as they should.
