Fabulous antique French button salesman's sample card with 80 unique Czech glass buttons.
All are glass and most are black glass, some with gold or silver overlay.
There are 10 rows or 8 buttons, each with a handwritten number and other marks and notations on card.
They are sewn on and back has a lot of messy knotted and overlapping thread.
I think most are original to this sample card, although there are probably some replacements that previous owners filled in missing spots.
The original buttons have a sort of brass box shank with 4 holes in a domed rather than squared opening.   More than half have this type of shank, others have traditional brass loop shanks, and some with molded shanks, and there are 3 that are 2-hole sew-thru buttons in the bottom row.
Smallest buttons are 3/4" and largest ones are 1-1/8".
There are some wonderful buttons including a bird, a crown, beautiful lacy glass, lots of flowers and geometrics.  There are 4 square buttons and one large oval, the other 76 buttons are round.
The heavy cardboard card is 11-1/2" wide x 16" high.
