At the push of a button, it stops automatically when the peeling is over. Can operate without a cord with batteries, to make it super 

portable! Alternatively, can be used with a 6.0 volt electric adapter. ABS plastic, ultra safe design, non-slip base. No need to touch or hold the item being peeled. Small, plastic knife stores under the base.
