This antique folding knife, probably for fruit or pearing, boasts a stunning gold blade and and mother of pearl and gold handle that is sure to catch the eye of any collector. We believe it is late 18th century to early 19 century in manufacture and probably made in France or Switzerland. There is both rose/pink and yellow gold. We have not tested the gold for purity, but typically 18 karat gold was used at that time. This is not being sold for melt, it is being sold for the antique value so the percentage of gold is irrelevant. This is an extraordinary antique and luxury object that is valued for its rarity. It is in need of some restoration as you can see, but where will you find another? For the knife collector who has everything but a solid gold blade. Both the gold and steel blades were crafted with precision and durability, making it a reliable choice for use 200 years ago.
