Pre-war Kluson style tuners reborn! Replica 3-on-plate tuners with "bent tab" worm supports, as made by Kluson from the 1930s to the '70s. They feature authentic steel baseplates and white or cream plastic knobs, plus 15:1 gear ratio for better tuning than the originals. Golden Age tuners are the rebirth of popular early 20th Century tuning machine designs, featuring simple steel plates and open gears. Replacements for the originals have long been sought by collectors and repairmen, to restore older guitars and improve their tuning. Our special relic nickel-finished versions complement vintage hardware and add an authentic look to reproduction guitars. Bright nickel tuners have gloss finished knobs, relic tuners have matte finished knobs. 15:1 gear ratio for improved tuning Vintage-style riveted worm supports .236" (6.00mm) string post diameter Press-fit peghead bushings Original mounting screw spacing (screws included) 1-3/8" (34.93mm) string post spacing Installation Tips Peghole spacing: Plate-mounted tuners can't work efficiently if the pegholes are improperly aligned. Our Tuner Drill Jig ensures the correct 1-3/8" post spacing for accurate tuning. Bushings: We recommend the #2062 Bushing Reamer (.340" diameter) to cut a clean, accurate counterbore for a professional job. Fit the press-fit tuner bushings correctly so your tuners will work smoothly. Mounting screws: Pilot holes required. Installing delicate screws into hard wood requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend the #1714 Depth-stop Drill Bit (3/32" bit) for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.
