Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

If you're a singer, broadcaster or use the harmonica and looking for something very special with excellent sound quality and an old school style and flair then you might want to consider this classic Shure microphone. It's the 1960's / 70's era PE54 model that could be used for a variety of purposes and it comes with the original 3 pin cable in which to operate.

Pic # 2 shows this very model as well as a few others in an older 1970's Shure catalog I have.

Pic # 3 is from an old 1970's era showing this very model being used by Paul Butterfield. This very model was used often by him when performing live in concert and has great tone as a harp mic being that it's set at high impedance having far less bass than your typical dynamic cardioid microphone.

This is basically a Shure 545S but set at High Z instead of Low Z and it came with the same satin chrome finish and lower pistol grip with on / off switch. The sound on these mics are quite superb and strong. You don't see too many of these around these days and this example is pretty decent despite the cosmetic wear. Best part is...it works perfectly. Zero issues. It's been gone over thoroughly and all issues addressed.

This mic has excellent uni-directional characteristics.

Many mics of the 1950's to 70's had the unique lower pistol grip but that design lost favor by the 1980's as all the mic manufactures stop making their mics with the built in lower grip. The modern mic used nothing more than a mic clip now. More practical but far less intriguing. The 545S and PE54 had a classic mid century vibe.

Again, this example has typical cosmetic wear as seen in the pictures provided. The front screen is free of odors, tarnish or dents. The foam inner pop filter is new and in excellent shape. This greatly helps reduce the unwanted "pops" you get from breathing or singing to close to the mic. There are some lite scratches and a dent on the rear Shure insignia. Some small pitting on some of the satin chrome finish. You'll notice there is a hairline fracture on the black plastic cartridge as well as some scuff marks. The fracture does not affect the mics in any way as it's purely cosmetic. The black Shure label shows lite wear but completely legible. You won't have to worry about getting rough with this mic as it's already been there. :)

Mic is 100% solid. No loose parts. Joint mechanism works perfectly with adjustable tension. The threading for both the stand and cable is perfect. Nothing is stripped or fractured.

The mic comes with a standard original 3 pin cable. The cable is 20 feet long and in very nice physical and working condition. Soft, pliable and has a quality Switchcraft male 1/4 inch connector for use with most audio equipment. This mic is ready to go.

Mic is an easy 6 on a scale of 1 - 10. The real beauty is the sound it still produces.

This mic will do you justice and should last 100 years if taken care of properly. They just built these mics so nicely and can take a ton of abuse.
