Quack Medical Advertising from Medical Journal

Great old quack medicines. Two of them contained Cannabis indica and were well-known as hypnotics.

Bottom Half: Four Patent Meds by Battle and Co.
 Each has the contents listed:
Bromidia was a hypnotic containing Bromium and Potassium chlorides, Chloral Hydrate, Cannabis Indica, and Hyoscamus.
Papine was an anodyne used for pain just as opium was.
The advertising hook was that all the negative properties of opium were removed and a dose of papine was similar to using a dose of morphine.
Iodia was an alterative remedy containing Stillingia,Helonias,
Saxifraga, menispermum, potassium iodide and Iron Phosphate.

Top Half: Neurosine by Dios Chemical Company of St Louis. Neurosine was a well-known and widely prescribed hypnotic to treat anxiety and depression.  This ad doesn't state that its contents were Cannabis Indica and alcohol but many of its ads list the contents.
