Very rare luxury ballpen in 925 sterling silver with fire-enamelled Art Deco design. Diameter mm. 10, length cm. 14. Silver weight gr. 60 on my digital scale. Marked Italy and 925 on the bottom.

Designed by Giorgio Salimbeni in 1976, these pens were inspired by objects designed by Louis Cartier around 1920. These pens were manufactured in Florence in various designs, also in parure with other objects, in the Salimbeni company headquarters with completely manual execution by artisan artists with thick slab and large reinforcements suitable for supporting numerous high-fire enameled firings at about 800° C.

The pen offered in this listing has black glass enamel and red enamel rings. Some minor chips in the red enamel. This is a heavy signing pen, a status symbol piece. Salimbeni objects are very expensive luxuries. The asking price here is modest and only because there are signs of use. Please see pictures for condition. The pen is not restored, polished or tested. Sold as found.

I have obtained information about this pen through personal correspondence with Mr Salimbeni who offered additional details about the collaboration with Cartier USA. More information available below:
