Driven by a love of antiques and a desire to upcycle rather than waste, Mark's artistic journey led to Herod's Lost Lamps. Mark's strong eye for design, appreciation of color and light and his exposure to antiques are the perfect complement to his skills as an artisan. Using his background in commercial set construction, scenic work and his thoughtful ingenuity, each project is a new challenge he looks forward to. Mark finds the whole process therapeutic, from the initial hunt for tools and treasures, the sometimes laborious but creative reinvention of each piece, to the final beauty of the finished recycled lamp. Each lamp is transformed using plays on color and light , the vintage parts and pieces themselves and all the world for inspiration. Mark has been able to recycle the vintage craftsmanship he loves and create exotic, unique pieces that marry form and function with his commitment to green principles.
