A gold signet ring from the Roman period.
Tests around 22 + ct  gold varies a little over the body of the ring.
Heavy full circle band with grooved decoration.
The collet  is decorated with a band of twisted gold , the twisted wire being knotted around two gold balls on the shoulders of the ring.
The face of the rose quartz cabochon is deeply pitted, almost sandblasted in appearance.
The ring is a good heavy construction and is wearable - though don't clean the kitchen in it.
It is very gold - even though I am used to 22ct gold in wedding rings this is somehow just more golden.
Surprisingly large -O 1/2  (Uk) 7 1/4 (US)- I would have imagined a Roman finger to be smaller but perhaps if you could afford all that gold, you could afford plenty of food !
Weight 4.83 gms
Suits male or female hand - not sizeable - it would be naughty given it has made it this far intact
