A very lively magazine full of excitement for the summer fashions. Right up until the 1980s many women made their own clothes or had a dressmaker as it was a less expensive way to reproduce the current fashions, there were many fabric shops and department stores all had substantial fabric departments, hence the emphasis on patterns and fabrics in all of these early Vogue magazines. I am from the generation that grew up making all my wardrobe but this may be less obvious to the reader who has always had imported high street fashions at affordable prices. Although this magazine has fantastic sixties fashions the mood is still of the fifties.

Nylons as stockings were commonly called still appear to be a luxury item from the advertising copy and Courtelle is a new manmade fabric which is much admired.

STILL IN VOGUE has a policy of honesty in the description of the vintage and used magazines we sell. This may work against us in that we draw attention to damage and it sounds much worse than it is. Not all vintage magazine sellers offer individual condition reports so one is left to assume their magazines are all in mint condition. We hope however that you, the buyer, appreciate that we want to supply you with goods that will match or exceed your expectations and not dash them.
