This is a large antique sampler, probably Victorian but may be a little earlier. No date.

The stitcher is Mary Glass who completed this sampler when she was just 11 years old.

Beautifully fine linen and stitches. Couple of small holes in the linen. Very little stitch loss, mainly on the letters in the verse.

Large verse "On Contentment."

Beautiful border, flowers, fruit, crowns, tiny insects and birds.

Small amount of colour run at top left.

Measures an impressive 13" x 17".
