This is a lovely sampler by a 9 year old girl, Elizabeth Ashby.
Silk thread on a very fine linen.
Verse:
Jesus permit thy gracious name to stand
As the first effort of an infant hand
And while her fingers on the canvas move
Engage her tender heart to seek thy love,
With thy dear children let her have a part
And write thy name thyself upon her heart.

Silk ribbon around the sampler like a mount.
Alphabet, numbers, floral border, crowns, bowls of fruit and flowers.
Faded over time and one small hole in bottom right hand corner.
No date but either Georgian or early Victorian.
Measures 12 x 14 1/2" and 15 x 17" in a walnut frame.

Please see photographs as these form part of the description.
