Arnold Friberg (1920-2010, was an American illustrator and painter known for his biblical and patriotic subjects, and last living illustrator in the style of Norman Rockwell and Harvey Dunn. His commission by the Northwest Paper Company for paintings of the Royal Canadian Mounties was so successful, Friberg went on to produce more than 300 works depicting the rugged Canadian frontier and the men who protected it. Print Descriptions: print#1 Respect for the Mounties quickly grew in the North West. The red coat became the badge of friendly authority. It meant to the Indians honesty, courage, wisdom and square-dealing. / print#2 - All Canada west of the Great Lakes was opened up by traders and settlers under the wing of the Mounties, who made the law a friend of all the settlers. / print#3 - King Edward VII bestowed the prefix "Royal" on the Force following meritorious service by a volunteer detachment in the Boer War. And, after being given dominion-wide responsibility in 1920, it was rechristened the "Royal Canadian Mounted Police". / print#4 - Maintain The Right ( Uphold The Right ) the official motto for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
