René Roubiček, 1922-2018, Prague, Czech Republic. He graduated from the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague where he followed the teaching of Prof. J.  Holeček and Prof. J. Kaplický. After that he worked as a freelance artist and collaborating with the Moser Glassworks since 1950.


He is one of the leading figures of the Czech glass art and won several awards including the Grand Prix of the World Exhibition Expo in Brussels in 1958 for his work “Glass- Matter- Shape- Expression” and the gold medal at the International Craft Trade Faire in Munich in 1969. In 2007, he was introduced to the Hall Of Fame – Czech Grand Design by the Design Academy of the Czech Republic.


He is famous for his free approach to glass, creating monumental sculptures as well as small intimate objects. He uses free-blown glass from which he creates these amazing sculptures but he is also the author of different chandeliers, light compositions and glass panes.


He is represented at the National Gallery in Prague, Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, Victoria and Albert Museum, London, Musée des Arts Decoratifs, Paris, The Corning Museum of Glass, Corning (USA), Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Akademie der Künste in Berlin, Museum für Kunsthandwerk in Frankfurt am Mohan, Museum Bellerive in Zurich, Koganezaki Crystal Park Glass, Japan and others public and private collections.
