For sale today is the rare, huge, and out-of-print (oop) DC Comics Absolute Edition hardcover with slipcase edition of Crisis On Infinite Earths by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, published in 2005. It altogether contains 464 pages.

  • Written by Marv Wolfman. Art by George Pérez, Dick Giordano, Jerry Ordway, and Mike DeCarlo. Cover by Pérez. Worlds lived. Worlds died. And the DC Universe was never the same! In 1985, DC Comics dramatically altered comics' original universe with CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS, a 12-issue series that rocked the comics community, tragically dooming some of DC's most beloved characters and drastically altering others. Written by Marv Wolfman and pencilled by George Pérez, with inks by Dick Giordano, Jerry Ordway and Mike DeCarlo, CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS finds the alternate worlds that once were a hallmark of the DC Universe under siege by a mysterious force powerful enough to wipe out the lives of billions. Now this landmark series gets the star treatment in CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS: THE ABSOLUTE EDITION - an oversized slipcased set containing two hardcover books. The 368-page Book One includes the full 12-issue maxiseries (which was painstakingly restored and meticulously recolored in 1998), with an introduction by Marv Wolfman, afterword by Dick Giordano, and creator bios. George Pérez provides all-new art for the dustjacket. (Please note that the Monitor Tapes section from issue #10 will be shot from the original art for this issue and represented in its original form.) The 96-page Book Two contains a compendium featuring the full behind-the-scenes story on the years-long making of the maxiseries complete with memos, notes, original plots and commentary from Marv Wolfman and Jerry Ordway; the Official Index to Crisis and Official Index to Crisis Crossovers being reprinted for the very first time, completely updated; a look into post-Crisis events and aftermath stories, how the Superboy/Legion conundrum was solved, and a look at the 20th anniversary of this seminal event. George Pérez provides all-new art for the dustjacket.

I am not a comics grader, but I try to be as thorough as possible when assessing books for any flaws. I don't believe in using a number grade system - to me they are mostly utilized as a method to be ambiguous about exact condition and/or individual imperfections - but I do attempt to describe anything other than minor cover shelf-scuffing/scratching in detail. If a certain flaw discussed below does not mention that it affects inside pages, then it does not.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These books are in great condition overall. The slipcase does have some mostly lighter and corner/edge based signs of wea . The hardcover novels themselves are in great conditions, with solid spines, excellent hardcovers (photos#19, 20) and inside pages (photos#21, 22). They have very few signs of external wear, almost entirely contained to the jackets. Any present flaws are described in full detail below. Due to eBay's photo limit, with lots involving multiple books, I am not able to show the detailed looks I try to maintain, so if you would like any extra photos of a specific description/book, feel free to let me know!

Any reference to certain areas of books can be seen in the photos above. The sections are:

Abbreviations Glossary (I've been listing more and more of my books and thought this would save some time..)
*USC: Upper spine corner
*LSC: Lower spine corner
*FTOC: Front cover's top outer corner
*FBOC: Front cover's bottom outer corner
*BTOC: Back cover's top outer corner

***Compendium: USC and LSC have minimal wear. Front jacket's top edges have minimal shelf-scuffing, their bottom edges have some light levels of shelf-scuffing. FTOC, BTOC, and BBOC have minimal wear. FBOC has a tiny indent around it. Front jacket has a ~1.5" horizontal scratch/streak adjacent the spine edge (photo#16 w/illumination). Some light shelf-scuffing around the page edge. Back jacket has some light shelf-scuffing/streaks/scratching spread around it (photo#17 w/illumination).

***Absolute Edition: USC and LSC have minimal wear. Front and back jackets' top and bottom edges have little if any shelf-scuffing/wear, other than a ~1/2" ding/indent on the front's top towards the FTOC, and a small scuff on the back's bottom near the BBOC. FTOC, FBOC, BTOC, and BBOC all possess minimal wear/scuffing. Front jacket has a light horizontal ~4.5" streak/scuff starting near the FTOC (photo#18 w/illumination), and a small/light indent/depression near the top edge. A few light shelf-scratches around the lower half of the jacket. Inside back jacket flap has a ~2.5" film material raises near the top. Front hardcover has 2 small/light indents/depressions. I both buy to read as well as sell TPBs on here, so I understand how aggravating it is to receive a comic damaged in transit. I always pack books firmly between pieces of cardboard (among other materials/layers) via Gemini Comic mailers or bubble mailers depending on size; usually utilizing boxes for larger lots. If you have any questions or would like any additional photos, feel free to let me know. I'm always happy to combine shipping costs - either message me before completing purchase for a pre-payment price adjustment, or alternatively I can provide a refund afterwards. Thanks, and have a spectacular day!
