This very rare and magnificent purple guilloché enamel and silver gilt pill box is dated circa the 1920s. It's the finest guilloche enamel box we've seen so far. We also believe the origins are Austrian or French. This extraordinary piece represents a fine example of craftsmanship. The oval lid with the sublime radial fan-wave engine turning in beautiful purple guilloche enamel is decorated with a central 9ct rose gold, marcasite, and amethyst panel. Amethyst stone is surrounded by silver marcasites and scrolled design rose gold elements on each side from which we've seen marcasite leaf decoration. Amethyst has long been a symbol of peace, cleansing, and calming energy. The edge of the piece is made from gold and silver with a floral design clasp. The sides are also decorated with repeating vertical wave-line turning. The back of the box has the same radial fan-wave design as the front of the lid. The interior is made in silver gild and it comprises an oval mirror that can be taken out of the box (please see the images). The piece is unmarked.
