Strong brand new conceptual album by Comedy of Errors

Just 9 month after their last album “Time Machine” the Scottish band is already back with a further well-done work. “Threnody for a Dead Queen” is their 6th studio album and thematically is described by the band as “a concept of life, love, death and beyond”.

The CD offers symphonic progressive rock with much melodics, emotionality, atmosphere and sensitivity. It shines with strong orchestration and vocal arrangements. All songs are composed and written by Jim Johnston who also delivers a brilliant keyboard performance here. The mixing and mastering was done again by Rob Aubrey in excellent sound quality. Outstanding tracks for me are the 3 epic long songs and the catchy “Funeral Dance”.

The CDs comes as digipak with a 12 page booklet with all lyrics. It is signed by all 5 band members. The full album is featured on comedyoferrors.bandcamp.com for listening.

Knapp 9 Monate nach ihrem letzten Album “Time Machine” ist die schottische Band bereits mit einem weiteren gelungenen Werk am Start. “Threnody for a Dead Queen” ist ihr 6. Studioalbum und wird thematisch von der Band als ein “Konzept von Leben, Liebe, Tod und darüberhinaus“ bezeichnet.

Die CD bietet symphonischen progressiven Rock mit viel Melodik, Emotionalität, Atmosphäre und Sensitivität. Es überzeugt durch starke Instrumentierung und Gesangspassagen. Alle Songs stammen wieder aus der Feder von Jim Johnston, der hier auch wieder mit seinen großen Fähigkeiten an den Keyboards brilliert. Das Mixen und Mastering wurden wieder von Rob Aubrey in hervorragender Soundqualität durchgeführt. Herausragende Stücke sind für mich die 3 epischen Long-Tracks und das stimmungsvolle “Funeral Dance”.

Die CD erscheint im Digipack mit 12-seitigem Booklet. Dieses ist von allen 5 Bandmitgliedern signiert. Das gesamte Album gibt es auf comedyoferrors.bandcamp.com zum Hören.
