Strong
conceptual album from 2015 - a spiritual journey through a new sound

With their third CD Comedy of Errors have created a strong conceptual album and their most ambitious work so far. This deals with themes of desparation, anger, loss and finally also hope and optimism and can be charaterized as spiritual journey with new musical style elements.
All in all this album is more keyboard and vocal orientated than “Fanfare & Fantasy”. The main track which the band understands as one long unbroken track with 10 parts is like a great opus. This contains some extraordinary tracks and many highlights, partly very emotional, highly melodic tracks and some songs with stunning overlaid voices. On some tracks I feel reminded of Yes.
All songs were written by Jim Johnston who also has
incorporated influences from
Shakespeare and classical composers (Purcell, Dowland, Bach, Mahler and
others). New band member as second
guitarist is Sam McCulloch. The sound quality was optimised again by Rob Aubrey
in his Aubitt Studios. “Spirit” is regarded as a great album in several music

Mit ihrer dritten CD haben Comedy of Errors ein starkes Konzeptalbum und ihr bisher ambitioniertestes Werk abgeliefert. Dieses handelt von Verzweiflung, Wut, Verlust und letztlich auch von Hoffnung und Optimismus und lässt sich als spirituelle Reise mit neuen musikalischen Stilelementen charakterisieren.
Insgesamt ist das Album keyboard- und gesangsorientierter als “Fanfare & Fantasy”. Der Haupt-Track, den die Band als einen langen, ununterbrochenen Song mit 10 Teilen versteht, wirkt wie ein großes Opus. Dieser enthält einige aussergewöhnliche Tracks und viele Höhepunkte, teils sehr emotionale Passagen, hochmelodische Stücke und einige Songs mit hervorragendem mehrstimmigen Gesang. Auf mehreren Tracks fühle ich mich an Yes erinnert.
Alle Songs wurden von Jim Johnston geschrieben, der dabei
auch Einflüsse von Shakespeare und
klassischen Komponisten (u.a. Purcell, Dowland, Bach, Mahler) verarbeitet hat.
Neu in der Band ist Sam McCulloch als zweiter Gitarrist. Die Soundqualität
wurde wieder von Rob Aubrey in den Aubitt Studios optimiert. “Spirit” wird in
