Terms
of business
Please note
the following terms of business before buying, thank you for your
understanding,
- All seeds are fresh and from trusted
sources to ensure good germination rates. Small batch tests have been done on
each seed type to ensure they are viable before listing for sale.
- Understandably I cannot guarantee the
germination rate of any particular seed type as success depends on your seed
raising method being sound, & I have no control over this. Standard methods
for germinating cacti seeds (of which there are many!) should get these to
grow, if you need any advice about how to germinate these seeds please get in
touch.
- I am therefore unable to offer a refund if
your seeds do not germinate, growing cacti from seed is not guaranteed, please
do not buy the seeds I sell if you are not willing to accept this. Please
understand that some of the rarer and more desirable species are more sought
after exactly because they are harder to grow and seed germination rate is
lower.
- Some species may take many weeks before
germination occurs, therefore give them time & don’t throw them away if
seedlings don’t pop up straight away!
- As guidance, I grow my seeds under LED
lights in grow tents with a temperature range of 20-30 degrees.
- Seeds are sent in a sealed envelope &
wrapped with bubble wrap to avoid damage during transit.
- I use Royal Mail 2nd class post
for seeds, and I only post to the UK, I am unable to provide a phytosanitary
certificate to post outside of the UK.
- Please pay within 3 days of purchase. If
there is a problem with this contact me to explain, I’m usually understanding
and happy to sort out something for you. Sadly however, non-paying buyers that
do not communicate will have purchases cancelled through eBays ‘unpaid item
policy’ which has repercussions for your buying account. I also block
non-paying buyers from bidding on any future auctions/listings.
- If you have any questions, special requests, or problems with seeds you have received please contact me. I will reply to your message as soon as I can.
Raising cacti from seed is an
interesting way to develop your collection, and is much more cost effective
than buying expensive seedlings. It is also a great way to develop plants to
use as grafting stock, & for most types of cacti is a fairly easy process
that doesn’t require expensive equipment. Since the UK left the EU it has
become harder to source seed of many species from abroad, I have therefore
tried to source a selection of seed from rarer and more desirable species – for
some of the species for sale I am not aware of another source of seed in the
UK!
For sale x10 seeds of a rare
species, Micranthocereus Streckeri. One of my favorite species in this genus,
M.Streckeri originates from a very localised area around Seabra in the State of
Bahia, Brazil. The only known location of this species contains 50 individual
plants or less and sadly is threatened by habitat loss. One of the smaller
species in this genus, forming stems usually less than 1m in height. Over time
it branches from the base forming a cluster of stems. Stems tend to be a a
light blueish hue with white or yellow spines, but it is the flowers that make
this plant a show stopper. Flowers form from a pseudo cephalium as the plant
ages and develop in huge clusters on each stem tip in a healthy plant. Flowers
are pink to purple in colour. Please see photos that demonstrate the appearance
of this species and flower.
Happy growing!!
