Vintage Japanese Ukiyo-E 浮世絵 Hanging Scroll ~ Kakejiku
features breathtaking Japanese Landscape with river, figure in a boat, small cabin, mountains, rocks, trees... meticulously hand painted on a woven cream delicate silky material, uses highly detailed brushstrokes that delimit details very precisely, traditionally mounted on a beige patterned woven silk and then mounted to a woven paper with a roller on the bottom end and wood stick at the top.
The painting has vertical 4-Characters Calligraphy Inscription, 2-Characters Signature & Red Seal ...
Attributed most likely to the TOSA school, dated most likely back to the early Showa era..
Measurements approximately:
46 1/2" - total length x 32" wide
Painting on silk only: 21 1/4" high x 27 3/8" - wide
Silk mounting 32" long x 29 1/2" wide
Lower roller about 33" wide x 1"D
CONDITION REPORT: AS PICTURED. The painting itself is free of any visible damage, some expected slight general soiling, lower roller is partially torn out, and has pieces of plastic tape to fix tears, pic.12. There are few minor tears at the sides of the top, closer to the upper wooden stick, pic.11, the lower roller has only one bone tip on the left hand side, the right bone tip was missing.
