The enclosure is made of the world-top-class Baltic Birch wood plywood panel. (strong, rigid, musically consonant, and relatively light weight)
 
In comparison to the MDF cabinets, this Birch wood enclosure offers far more transparent, detailed sound and great extension to the low end.

Unlike most Lowther cabinets, this particular pair was designed and hand-made by employing the Dovetail Joinery Method to guarantee the world-best cabinet performance.

The Academy represents the pinnacle of the Bico-horn designs, the exclusive horn-loaded technology from Lowther.
 
The Academy presents the panoramic sound image through stretching the merits of the Bico horn system to the extreme. At the same time, the Academy performs like a huge horn-loaded speakers despite of its relatively medium size. The secret is hidden behind the ingenuous dual-horn design with two drivers.
 
Each Academy speaker is equipped with two drivers, one on the front baffle and the other on the top side, emanating the sound both front and upward direction, creating the massive concert-hall-like soundstage.
