We spent a lot of time thinking about allpass filters and you and me. How frequencies are passed through in different time relationships. How are phasers and reverbs created in the digital realm?
It's about how much storage space there is, or in other words, how it relates to the fourth dimension.
■ Phaser? delay? Reverb?
Old Blood Noise Endeavors' BL-52 Phase Repeater is part phaser, part delay, and part reverb. It is an unclassifiable creative device that pushes the boundaries of effects defined by "time (clock)," and its sound transcends conventional frameworks, creating a completely unique category.
By integrating a delay into the phase circuit, you can freely control the time stretch that affects phase modulation. Fluid phaser, diffuse multi-tap delay, and watercolor reverb. And an intermediate sound that is like a mixture of everything. The size and materials of the space constantly change, creating a special atmosphere.
How you play is up to you. Throw away your fixed ideas and freely run your brush on the canvas.
■Magical control
The magic of the BL-52 begins with two controls.
CLOCK is a mysterious parameter that changes the processing speed of the entire pedal. Multiple factors can be drastically changed at the same time, such as the sample rate, which determines signal resolution, the timing of phase repeats, and the LFO speed, which affects the blur and spread of repeats. By blurring the boundaries between effects, an as-yet-unnamed atmosphere that spreads only in your concept is realized.
FEEDBACK is also a parameter that dramatically reverses the character. The mechanism is similar to general feedback, but the efficacy is completely different from conventional feedback. The dramatic change from a faithful and clean repeat to a sinking multi-tap in the next moment to a strange undulation writhing in the dark underbelly is unique.

■Effects with “will”
The BL-52 provides a wide variety of sounds that you wouldn't expect from its simple controls. All of them have a solitary worldview that makes you question your preconceptions.
Depending on the parameter settings, the effect will come and go like a wave. The way the resolution, smearing, and diffusion of each repeat are constantly changing gives a sense of ``will'' that goes beyond mere effects.
