A pretty Minton shaped dessert plate in neoclassical style with their famous Sevres style celeste bleu ground inset with six cameos of classical god and goddesses in a sepia enamel. The border is sandwiched between two wide gilt bands with raised gilt Greek key pattern and in the centre is a classical arrangement of musical instruments within a laurel wreath.

A similar but more elaborate dessert service was displayed at the International Exhibition 1862 and this plate will have come from a service produced around that time inspired by but designed at a more accessible level. Impressed factory marks to the base, and the ermine mark painted along with pattern number G173 or G178.

It measures 23.3cm (9 3/16") and 2cm (3/4") high.

In excellent condition with no damage or repair and minimal handling wear.
