Celebrating the beauty of the animal kingdom, the Rwanda Wildlife Silver Bullion Coin Series portrays the amazing animals found on the African plains: the gorilla, elephant, lion, zebra, rhino, cheetah, impala, buffalo, Meerkat and more. The series was launched in 2008 with each year featuring an illustration of a celebrated African animal, some of which are endangered. A detailed outline of Africa shares the front of the coin.

The obverse has the coat of arms for the nation of Rwanda. This seal was redesigned by the national government in 2001. Along the bottom of the seal is the engraving Ubumwe-Umurimo-Igihugu, which translates from local Kinyarwanda to English as Unity, Work, Patriotism.
