"L.L. Richmond & Co. Quadruple Silverplate"

We unearthed no information on this seemingly small firm, but this piece is rich with time-consuming craftsmanship and a slightly whimsical touch to the Victorian design.

A few decorative patterns adorn this piece, with bold floral and feather details hammered into the spout and handle en relief, 3 fine bands of stacked geometric borders encircle the neck, and a large symmetrical design of floral and geometric elements has been hand etched onto the body. The stand has Victorian vine flourishes on either side of the 'arms' from the base and  a pair or peacock heads (see condition notes below) positioned perpendicular to the arch. A sturdy, stylized handle with flourishes and shaped somewhat like a peacock's feather spread tops the lid.

Stand Measures:

18" Tall

8 3/4" Base Diameter

Pitcher Measures:

12" Tall

10" Wide from Spout to Handle

7 1/2" Base Diameter

A unique antique, this pitcher has signs of age and use. One of the peacock heads on the side of the stand has lost the flourish from the back of the head. There are some heavy scratches and scuffs where the tilting stopper hits the stand to right itself. There is oxidation and a neat patina has developed without taking away from the charm of silverplate.
