Wade Potteries found in the early 1950s there was not enough demand for industrial ceramics to keep their employees working.  In the 1954 Wade Whimsies made their debut at the British Industries Fair.  These miniature animals were intended for school children, but soon attracted the attention of adults and became very collectible.  In Early 1967 Red Rose Tea Canada and in 1983 Red Rose Tea US were offering Wade Whimsies as free premiums
