Silky, undisturbed surfaces on a coin over 225 years old are extraordinary. That they are preserved on this massive two ounce copper beast of a type notoriously prone to huge dings, scratches and gashes (when they fall, they fall hard) is astounding. PCGS graded only one finer, NGC five.

The 1960 Lincoln Continental was the heaviest automobile ever made, weighing in at a whopping 2.575 tons (5,150 pounds). At 2.025 ounces (57.408 grams) this is indeed the Lincoln Continental of copper coins. For perspective, a U.S. large cent weighs 10.89 grams. This coin is so chunky and monumental that it requires a special fatty holder from PCGS. The idea in 1797 was for these to contain their actual metal value, since back then an ounce of copper cost 1 penny. In theory it was a cool idea. In practice they were violently unpopular as they were way too heavy to carry around as change and frequently tore through peoples' pockets.
