Description
You are bidding on a two (2) cancelled envelopes featuring the first ever NASCAR postage stamps to be released in the United States.
And of course, it features the Dale Earnhardt #3 race car.
The custom postage was cancelled in Philadelphia, PA on September 5, 2006 at the Ben Frankin Post Office, regarded by most as the first post office in the United States. This is real US postage - not from some island...
Don't miss out on this historic offerering. And besides, they look awesome!!!!
The postmarks are a little different depending on which machine cancelled them. Both are shown.
Because these were hand cancelled, they are not perfect - some have cancellation marks, less than perfect stamps and less than perfect corners....
Why buy 2 of them????
So you can keep one and mail one to a friend or family member....
The Secret????
Since you read this far...I will let you in on the secret....
When these were cancelled, the Post Office in Philadelphia stamped them. That is not how you cancel a custom postage stamp. You need to scan the bar code.
That was never done - so these are still live stamps. If you add $.27 postage, you can put a letter or note inside and send it off. What a cool surprise.
If the weight is over 1 ounce, just add the appropriate postage and send it off (you already have a $.39 head start).
Good Luck and Thank You!!
