This is a beautiful copy of Oliver Statler's Japanese In: a Reconstruction of the Past. It is a first edition 1961 copy that includes a protected dustjacket. It tells the story of the Minaguchi-ya, an old Japanese inn. The inside pages are enhanced by 50 prints and drawings by well-known Japanese artists of the past.

This edition is in excellent condition for its age. It is tightly bound, and the outside of the book is in excellent condition. The inside pages are crisp and pristine. There is a very small smudge on the page edges, and a name written on the inside, as is customary with many vintage books. The dustjacket illustration is a detail from a print by Japanese artist Hiroshige. The dustjacket is well protected by a protective covering, but shows wear along its top and bottom edges.
