A solitary woman walks through a village late in the evening. Her way is lit by the lantern she is carrying and the windows of a nearby house. A flock of geese is descending to look for a place to sleep for the night.

This is a minimal print, with a simple yet delicate treatment of the figure through the lines of her clothing, and just enough detail to capture the viewer’s imagination. She seems to be looking at the silhouetted head of a man walking on the far side of the wall.

Double matted with an iron red inner mat to match the color in the lantern.
The gilded wood frame is carved to resemble bamboo and is in very good condition.
Estimated age: early to mid-20th century

This is a fine impression, but it does have a stain on the left side, as can be more clearly seen in my photos of the print outside of its mat. However, as matted and in the frame, this is not very apparent.
No foxing, toning, folds or creases.
