This phenomenal Day of the Dead Mirror is by the famous retablisto artist Claudio Jimenez, and his very talented wife, Vicenta Flores, of Peru.


It is signed on the back by both.


This was imported directly from the artists.


It is completely hand-made and hand-painted.


The frame is made of old reclaimed wood that has a layer of gesso and then is hand painted.


Overall, it measures 26” tall by 22 1/2” wide by 1 1/2” deep.

The mirror is 16” tall by 13 3/8” wide.


There are four panels—starting at the top:


It measures 21 3/8” long by 4” tall.

From left to right: There’s a celebration going on. Four skeleton musicians play as a skeleton wearing a human mask dances. A skeleton is down on the ground with a bird in his hand. There are two skeletons in a gorilla suits and masks, another 3 with a monster masks. One as a gladiator angel, 2 dancing girls. Four wearing pirate costumes followed by another 5 musicians. For a total of 25 figures!


Down the left side:

Measuring 15 3/4” tall by 3 1/2” wide.

This is a skeleton musical instrument work shop. The wall is covered in 22 various instruments and hidden in with the instruments is the lower jaw bone of a cow. Can you spot it? Two skeletons sit at a table making and trying out more instruments.


Down the right side:

Measuring 15 7/8” tall by 3 1/2” wide.

This is a skeleton mask makers’ workshop.

The wall is covered in 10 different monster masks. Two skeletons sit at a table making and trying on masks.


Across the bottom:

Measuring 21 1/2” long by 4” tall.

It’s another celebration starting with 7 skeletons dressed in native Indigenous costumes. The party continues across the bottom with 11 musicians and 7 dancers and the last figure is holding another cow jaw bone. There are a total of 26 skeleton figures.
