Rare Early Atlantic Bear by Wendy and Alan Mullaney 1989.

This is very early bear made by Atlantic Bears. I dare to say some of the first ones they ever made. He is 19” / 48cm, made from English old gold mohair, 5-way jointed, stuffed very hard with woodwool and has plastic safety eyes, his nose is black waxed linen thread.

I really love his shape and character. Wendy and Alan were passionate about antiques and first teddy bears they created have this old toy appeal which makes it difficult to identify them as artist bears sometimes. In fact this wonderful boy was once sold as an antique teddy bear by broccante shop, to do so the seller cut off his artist label. Still to any serious collector the signature of his artists is obvious. And being such an early example of a family-run company that made success all over the globe for more than 20 years makes him only more desirable.
