Marcus Aurelius, ae sestertius, 161-180 A.D., Roman Imperial, R.I.C- 861, 20-22 mm diameter, 21.2 gms. The obverse shows the laureate bust to the right, with the legend "M. AVREL. ANTONINVS AVG. ARMENIACVS P. M. ". The reverse shows Mars, standing to the right, holding a spear, with left hand on shield. The reverse legend shows "TR. P. XVIII IMP. II COC. III S. C, ". Both sides are toned dark brown in color. The portrait of Marcus Aurelius still shows good detail of facial features, hair, beard, ear, and wreath. The reverse shows detail as to wear, but does shows some porosity on the surface. This is a genuine, original coin, not a copy, replica, or reproduction. EX. A.
