Did you know . . .
- Coinage of the silver dollar ceased after 1904 due to low demand and depletion of the bullion supply. The Pittman Act of 1918 resulted in the melting of 270,232,722 silver dollars. Due to this, it is unknown how many remain of any particular year’s mintage. Coinage of the silver dollar resumed in 1921.
- A broad spectrum of coin, currency, and exonumia resources, such as the monthly Numismatist publication, educational opportunities, articles, coin show schedules, a lending library, and more is available to members of the ANA (American Numismatic Association).
