About the picture:

I love this Cathedral and the city of Cahul for his wonderful and glorious history, well, because it was born, my wife.
Cahul officially became a city in December 1835, and received its name in honor of the Russian victory over the Turkish army at the river Cahul in 1770.
A special feature of this battle was that the Russian army, which numbered 20,000 soldiers and local volunteers, under the command of an outstanding military leader Peter Rumyantsev defeated 150,000th Turkish army, under the command of the Supreme Vizier Halil Pashy ports. Therefore, many historians call Cahul "city of Russian glory." In honor of the victory of Russian arms by the river Cahul in Tsarskoye Selo was erected an obelisk. He made a great impression on the young Alexander Pushkin, who wrote:
«Чугун кагульский, ты священ
Для русского, для друга славы…
Ты средь торжественных знамен
Упал горящий и кровавый,
Героев севера губя».
In honor of the fallen heroes of the winners Russian wooden church was built in 1785, and in 1850 in its place was built the Cathedral of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel.
Here's a brief history of the theme of the picture.
