You are looking at the drive shaft from a 70 Pontiac Lemans
coupe with 350 & TH350. It is 56” from center of bearing cap to center of
bearing cap, 57 1/2 from outside loop to outside loop or 61 1/8 total length
including yoke. Drive shaft is correct length for the following cars per the
Hollander Interchange:
68 GS400 w/ Muncie 4 speed
68 to 69 Skylark w/ ST300 AT
69 to 70 Grand Prix w/ Muncie 4 speed
68 to 69 Olds Cutlass & 442 w/ Muncie 4 speed or Jetaway
(2sp) AT
68 to 72 Pontiac Lemans & GTO w/ Muncie 4 speed or 2SP
AT or TH350
MEASURE YOUR OWN NEEDS BEFORE BUYING. Yoke is 27 spline and
will fit 3 speed, or pre 70 Muncie M20 M21 and M22 4 speed, Power Glide or
TH350. The U-joints should be replaced due to age. No heavy pitting. Nice &
straight. Hard to find.
Alot of people think getting the driveshaft is one of the
first things you do in a build. It is actually one of the last things you do. I
am currently rebuilding my 66 Biscayne with a 632 and a 5 speed. I am having a
custom driveshaft made. Before I can establish my length, I need to have the
car done, at full weight, sitting at my determined ride height with the weight
of the car on all 4 wheels. Then set the pinion angle on my rear. Then measure
my needs allowing 5/8" to 3/4" of yoke to stick out the back of the
transmission. While I am not saying you must go through all this effort to
determine you required length, I am saying make sure this is the length you
need. I list the measurements in my description. I hope this is the correct
length for you. Thank you for your interest, Dave.
