Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens.  Published by Chapman and Hall, London, 1865. In two volumes.  320 pages in Vol I; 309 in Vol II and five pages of ads.  With forty illustrations by Marcus Stone, 20 in each volume. Very good, first editions, spines are rebound. Maroon cloth covered boards with blind stamped border outlines and decorations on front and back panels.  Boards are scuffed, a bit faded, and with several small stains.  Fore-edge corner tips are rubbed through. External page edges are age-darkened.  All inside gutters are cracked at the end-papers but text blocks are stable due to the spine rebind.  End papers are smudged. Text pages are age-toned and with light foxing throughout, heavier around illustrations.  A few shallow corner creases.  Many of the illustrations have damps stains in similar locations, but the surrounding text pages do not, making the assumption that maybe they were there before being added to the texts:  In Vol I there are 7 with stains toward the upper margin, one with a stain in the lower margin; 18 of the illustrations in Vol II have damp stains in the upper right corners/edges.  The stains are not clear in the photos but additional efforts to provide them are available. Please use close-up options for best inspection and in support of condition descriptions.  Additional photos available at your request.
